Cuva Shot Eight

If you ever travel to New Zealand for snowboarding, it’s a right of passage that you hit up one of the “club fields” while touring the country. Club Fields are small, client operated, non-profit ski areas that get you to some of the best terrain in the Cantebury Region on the South Island. What they lack in chairlift accessed terrain is made up with beautiful hikes to challenging (and fun) mountain peaks (via the nutcracker rope tow, but we’ll save that for another day). DCP made the 20-minute hike ‘lookers left’ in Craigieburn to pop this clean method onto the cover of Frequency in 2005.

The Banger (Mikkel Bang) racks up another shot on this Saas Fee Quarterpipe. Seems like I’ve posted a lot of images from this obstacle, but it was one of those days when things were going all good on a not-so-good QP. Make something out of nothing.

Trevor Andrew throws up a one-footed hand plant on a really small hand-dug QP at SnowPark (New Zealand) during 2006. This was part of our resort tour with Grilo, Tadashi and Tim Jackways that had the rule of ‘parking lots and chairlift accessed terrain only.’ The funny thing is about the two days we spent at SnowPark is the sessions never took us past the parking lot…there was too much good stuff to take advantage of where we parked our car !
