Gigi’s ad just launched in the new issue of Transworld. We shot it on location, deep in the backcountry of Alaska. I spent 16 days up there, posted up, waking up every morning and looking outside for sun. Finally new snow had came, and the sun FINALLY came out. It was projected to be a three day window of sun.

The crew was so hyped that they wanted to go out and concentrate on a few jumps and shoot the Gigi’s shot the next day. I said NO WAY haha, as it could close tomorrow since the weather is so unpredicatable up there. I knew we had to shoot it that first day. So we scoped out the zone, waited for sunset, Gigi got the drop on the peak and BOOM it was on. We had one go at this shot, and then it would be time for the bird to go back home as the end of the day was rapidly approcahing. If we blew it, it would have been a lot of cash, time, and energy going down the drain. So it would be safe to say I was feeling the pressure a bit haha.

The orginal idea for the shot was supposed to be the shot below of a turn above rock exposure. Then gigi kept riding down, and his sluff (moving snow) caught up to him and almost took him out. The shot is all about free riding. And working with GIGI… He is just the MANG!
