Mercury Dipping

After landing at DIA, I caught the I-70 West towards Summit County, keeping a watchful eye on the semi-icy roads since this was my first time back on slick pavement in some time. While keeping one eye on the road, the other was glued to the in-dash thermometer…what started out as a warm 17-degrees (-8 Celsius) in Denver quickly found it’s way to 1-degree (-17 C) as I entered the mountains and ultimately peaked out at 9-below (-22) as the highway entered Eisenhower Tunnel.

Breckenridge was the first stop to drop the gear off at Mancamp (more on this spot later), and then point it to Vail to cover the in-store appearance of the team riders at the Burton Store in Lionshead Village. A lively crew of employees, old friends and autograph seekers packed in to chat it up with Jake and his band of shredders.

Once the Vail party was wrapped up, I headed back to Breckenridge to set up the bags for the first day shooting at Copper Mountain. The weatherman says early morning temps are going to hover around 0-degrees (-17 C) and maybe get up to 20-degrees (-6 C) by noon…I hope so!
