Landing in Haines was the best feeling ever! We actually made it…from a simple Seattle to Juneau to Haines trip that would ordinarily take a half-day to a full on four-day-extravaganza of getting nowhere on a whole bunch of airplanes.

Our 10:30 Wings flight from Juneau was delayed till after noon, but they loaded on the gear, seven passenagers and said ‘…let’s go, we’ll at least try to get there…’ The flight up river was a little tricky, nothing too crazy, just a few bank turns around thick cloud layers. I’ve done this flight a few dozen times and this was definitely the nearest I’ve been to the water on this route (we stayed low to stay under the clouds). The palms didn’t get too sweaty at any one time, I kept snappin’ photos and before we knew it we were touching down on the runway.

Now it’s time to play the waiting game with the current weather, but fresh snow is falling in the mountains, shouldn’t be too long before we’re putting on the boots. Blotto
